Also, red on the lips suddenly gains our attraction towards them because of a bold statement which he is making.
The reason why I think he chose to have a close up of the face s so we notice these abstract colours that draw our attention.
The image itself is left quite worm and glowing to give this happy and enjoyable effect for the viewer. I think the Testino, here shows a positive side of make up even though it's irony- he's showing make up to be positive even though it looks an absolute mess, I mean would you go out with your make up in the manner? But, the audience enjoy the way it's been presented.
This image is very central, I think the reason why the photographer did this was to keep the attention towards the model (hence why there's no background shown!)
Just like the vibrant blue allows the dark golden eyes to pop out of the image, the background is effectively used in the same way, to make the tanned model pop out of the image. Again, this keeps our eyes towards the model.The picture of the model Cara Delevingne on the right portrays a bad side of make up in todays society. The light blue background implies sadness and sorrow, whilst the cream liquid drips off the models face. I think the connotation of the make up dripping off her face suggest that society of today wears far too much make up. Also he use of having a model which is known in the youth today sends the message out 10x more profound because teens enjoy her.
A long shot is used to show the make up running down towards here neck, this infers that theres a lot of it.
The lighting he has used is accurate but this great big shadow along the side of her face appears. I think this is to darken the contrast of the foundation against her face to give a more drastic mood.
Again, the model is very centred because it's a fashion magazine, so the audience are able to focus more on her face rather than anything else.Whereas, this image of Princess Diana is more about elegance and being beautiful and fabulous all the time.
The triangle used on her elbow keeps our eye fixed diagonally to the face. The reason why Testino did this was again to place the focus on the face. Also, Testino placed the Princess' hands the keep not only this royal and classical feel to it but also to keep our attention towards the face.
The photographer kept the top half of her body in a sharp focus to bring out the texture of the dress which she is wearing. This is to show the detail and how expensive the dress is. Also, the no armed dress shows slight bit of skin. This implies that she's not an old, traditional Princess, she was a more modern, free willed, type of Princess which is rare.
The image is mostly white. I think the photographer did this to keep the atmosphere quiet light and free, but also to keep this elegancy going.
The thing which I like about this image is the detail and texture of the top half of the dress. I love the fact the photographer kept more focus on the dress then Princess Diana herself. This implies that, the dress to a certain extent is more value.
However, what I dislike about this image, that it's quite plain; that our eyes only keep towards the Princess but I also think that if the image was busy and objects were going along in the background, I think this elegant and classic feel wouldn't be as affective. I like the simplicity of the image because it keeps us centred towards Diana.
Also, the photographer kept the Princess more focussed on the left, this was to show the way she's lay across the couch. For instance, tradition, more old viewed/fashioned type of Princess would sit up straight to keep the representation of this country high. But, you could tell that older Princess were tad and expected to sit in a certain position. Whereas, Diana portrays more freedom within this image, that she's breaking this ancient view of what a Princess needs to be told what to do. More so, it connotes that she's breaking the rules of what a Princess is expected to do.
